At the invitation of the United Nations Associations of China (UNA-China), the delegation of the United Nations Association of Hungary headed by Mr. Gombos Ervin, Secretary-General of UNA-Hungary, and MmeMs. Eszter Lukacs, Member of the Presidium, visited Beijing and Guangzhou from 8-12 May, 2017.

During their stay in China visit, Ambassador Lu Shumin, President of UNA-China, Mme. Zhang Dan, Vice-President and Director-General of UNA-China, Mr. Yang Tao, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Luo Jun, Vice-Director of Foreign Affairs Office of the Government of Guangdong Province, met with with themthe delegation. The Hungarian guests also held discussion with professorsfaculties and students of the School of International Relations and Diplomacy of Beijing Foreign Studies University on issues of common interest.

General Assembly of the UNA in 2017 lecturers
On 23 May 2017 the UNA of Hungary held its annual General Assembly. Prof. Dr Zoltán Szenes, ret. colonel-general, former chief of staff, member of the Presidium of the UNA gave a lecture on „The New Phase of the Global Arms Race and Hungary”. Afterwards the GA discussed and adopted the Report on the UNA’s Activities in 2016 and the Programme for 2017. Luxembourg WFUNA 70
On 19 October 2016, UNA-Luxembourg, in collaboration with WFUNA, organized a celebration of 70 years from the foundation of WFUNA in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. WFUNA was founded on 2 August 1946 by 22 United Nations Associations (UNAs). This was one year after the UN Charter was proclaimed with the opening words “We the peoples of the United Nations”. Ever since, WFUNA has been the only global organization with the primary mission of supporting the principles and purposes of the United Nations. The UNA of Hungary was represented by Eszter Lukács, member of the Presidium (in the middle in blue).
56 Revolution Commemoration - Presidium
On the 20th of October 2016 the UNA of Hungary in cooperation with the Corvinus University of Budapest and the International Diplomatic Student Association (IDSA) organized a commemorative meeting on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. The event was opened by Prof. Dr. András Lánczi, Rector of the University. On the photo next to him the lecturers of the meeting: Prof. Emer. The drug problem is high on the agenda of the UNA of Hungary. Among others the UNA annually launches the International Narcotic Control Board’s (INCB) report in February in Hungary. On the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (26 June) the UNA also presents the World Drug Report by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to the Hungarian public. Ákos Topolánszky, Head of the UNA’s Narcotic Drug Committee introduces the 2014 report to the press and public.

On 24 June 2014 Academician Mihály Simai, adviser of UNCTAD and President of the UNA of Hungary has introduced UNCTAD’s „WORLD INVESTMENT REPORT-2014” to the press and other interested professionals. The UNA of Hungary had its quinquennial General Assembly on 2 February 2010 at the Budapest Corvinus University. A new 15-member Presidium and new 97-member Governing Council have been elected. Prof. Mihály Simai, Honorary President of WFUNA, heads the new Presidium. Dr. Ervin Gömbös, Secretary-General of the UNA (and Vice-President of WFUNA) was also re-elected. The 39th Plenary Assembly of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) was hosted by the UNA-Republic of Korea (UNA-ROK) in Seoul from 10-12 August 2009. The Plenary Assembly, which is the highest decision making body of WFUNA, was chaired by the outgoing President, Hans Blix (left side). Other speakers of the Opening Session were (from left to right), Dr. Han Seung-soo, Prime Minister of the ROK, Ban Ki Mun, Secretary-General of the UN, and Kim Seung Youn, President of UNA-ROK (President of the Hanhwa Group).

The 39th Plenary Assembly of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) was hosted by the UNA-Republic of Korea (UNA-ROK) in Seoul from 10-12 August 2009. And saw the participation of 122 delegates from 49 UNAs, representing every region of the world. In addition, 43 youth delegates from 24 UNAs held their meeting at the same time.

The event coincided with the closing ceremony of the UN Academy (handing over the Certificates of attendance). More than 200 participants of the Academy were awarded the Certificate. "Magyar menekültek Ausztriában 1956 után" bemutató
To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Uprising, the regional office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Budapest has presented to the press the archive photo collection "Hungarian Refugees in Austria after 1956" in the Headquarters of the UN Association of Hungary. The majority of the 41 photos – which were distributed on DVD – were taken in Austria, because more than 90 percent of the Hungarian refugees (close to 200 thousand) left their homeland through the western neighbor. The press briefing was moderated by Melita H. Sunjic, Senior Regional Public Information Officer of UNHCR. On the photo the panelists: Dr. Ervin Gömbös, Secretary-Genral of the UN Association, H.E. In 1988 the world celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. For the Anniversary Amnesty International organized a series of concerts in September and October in 19 cities of five continents involving world famous musicians. After London and Paris Budapest was the third scene of the tour where Bruce Sprinsteen, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman, Youssou N'Dour, as well as the Hobo Blues Band and János Bródy of Hungary performed. The "Human Rights Now" concert organized under the auspices of the UNA of Hungary had an audience of 90 thousand in the People's Stadium in Budapest.
